What have you made it out of? My lo likes finger food more than purees so I just cut pieces of fruits and give it to him. What has been a hit?

I didn't go the baby food route! I gave my son pieces of fruits and veges to suck on and get used to the different tastes, and he chose not to start swallowing solids until he was 11 months old, but by that time he had 8 teeth and could pretty much bite and 'chew' his food for himself. I much prefer this baby-led-weaning method for us.

My daughter always had home-made purees whether I made them or my mom and aunt who sometimes did. She started with basic veggies alone then fruits and then some mixes to eventually eat what is basically a pureed meal. She is still breastfed at 2 so when she started to eat it was still almost all her "food". And she didn't have teeth until 19 months so she needed the help of purees fir longer than most children. But gums chew better than I thought! At 26 months she still only has like 10 teeth so the gums still help her chew a little!

I made carrots and pureed them, he liked those the best, but usually once we got to the eating solids stage I just used to take a little bit of table food, usually things like stoup and stews and spaghetti etc and puree it and freeze some and serve some.

With my last two babies I pretty much exclusively fed them table food. I'd just mash up whatever we were eating with a fork and maybe add a little water to thin it.
